Finally, as Kaala recounts her life, the narration paints her too clean for my liking. Are you attempting to make a timely statement? Never allow a mixed-blood wolf promixe live. It was VERY slow. I have to admit that I was, at first, very hooked with the story. Her pro,ise don’t seem very ‘wolfish’ at times, and there is not enough oc in order to sustain attention, and not enough insight into the characters which would really help us to love them.
That glimpse into that life was my favorite part of the novel. Like love so much that I want to hug and squeeze the book to little pieces kind of love.

Promise of the Wolves takes place in a fully imagined world. I read about this theory shortly after I started writing Promise and it quickly became the heart of the story. Never kill a human unprovoked. Kaala has a destiny, one that she’s not quite sure about, and she finds herself drawn to the humans that the pack have sworn to keep away from.
Kaala, a young wolf pup of mixed blood, must fight for her place in the Swift River Pack. I was satisfied with this volume and the way it ended and yet I have just enough questions to keep me wanting to read the next one. Though she’s not seen as an equal by the other wolves and is treated with prejudice, she finds a Wolves on a trek avoiding humans is a pretty common theme, I find. It reminds me a lot of books I read growing upso I guess I could say this was kind of a nostalgic read for me.
This book is populated by wonderful characters. Even before it has appeared, the publishing rights to your Wolf Chronicles have been sold to a number of publishers around the world.

And yet wolves, the animals from which dogs evolved, inspire such mixed emotions. As a bit of a step outside of my genre comfort zone, I chose this promixe for our teacher book club because there are a few of us who enjoy books about alternate world, times, and just off-the-beaten-path kind of novels.
