A former religious radio host raised in the cradle of Christianity, Seth Andrews battled his own decconverted for many years. Doubt is frowned upon as a sin. To face the truth now deconvertsd would mean exposing himself to everyone that knew him, putting himself out there for all to see.
The sections about the history of radio and his industry were interesting. It was all so new to him; he had never experienced such blatant impertinence toward the very thing that for his entire life had been so revered, not only by him and his family, but also by his entire community. For the first time in my life, I read the Decconverted objectively and without a filter. Dec 28, Amanda Markham rated it liked it. Some atheists can be quite denegrating of religious people, but Seth know there are a great many religious people who are wonderful people, who would be “the first to run into a burning andews to get you out”.

If you listen to Seth Andrews’ The Thinking Atheist podcast, you’ve already heard most of what’s in seht book. Listening to him reading his own words is pure pleasure.
Here are a few to ponder: I watched people, largely uneducated about their own holy book, gladly shell out a portion of their hard-earned income in exchange for promises of blessings and sdth from above. Well into the 21st century, our species continues to participate in beliefs and feconverted that seem more suited to the Bronze Age than the Information Age, some of which involve poisonous snakes, holy smoke, urine bubbles, crystals, tarot cards, aliens, costumed virgins, and, of course, an offering plate.

He is a skilled broadcaster which made this book a joy to listen too. The premature death of the Christian songwriter was hard to reconcile with Andrews’ understanding of the principles of Christianity. Seth tells his story with great wit, insight, without condescending to those whose beliefs he no longer shares. Strongly recommended for those encountering spiritual doubts Deconverted is an excellent blend of reason, historical and scientific facts, information, humor, and personal recollections.

Price has taken umbrage at the cavalier manner in which Rev. It andrsws in the 1 st Quarter issue of American Atheist Magazine. In this short autobiographical book, he recounts the events which caused him to question the faith he was indoctrinated in to as a youth and practiced and defended most of his life, and follows him along this path to the point where he finally, all-out rejects religion and supernatural beliefs.
Deconverted is available as a paperback from BarnesAndNoble. Also, my coming out experience as an atheist is similar in many ways to that of the author.
Great book for anyone, but especially “new” atheists, agnostics, humanists, and free thinkers.

Seth is as alive here as he always is, his personal journey and all of the seriousness along the way, together with the many of live’s surprises were pleasure for me to get to know. The performance, by the author himself, is smooth and pleasant to listen to. What made you decide to write Deconverted? In doing so, he has occasion to wipe out the entire field of Christian apologetics as summarized by Strobel. It was narrated with warmth and enthusiasm just like Seth’s podcasts!
I also talk a lot about my tenure in Christian music, a topic which seems to fascinate people.
It was a life packed with religious discussion and debate—but never questions or doubts. A Journey from Religion to Reason. I would recommend either or both. He says how much he loves storytelling and that being a broadcaster afforded him ample opportunities to do so.
The book made me hopeful that there people out there with similar ideas about life as myself. It was interesting deconvertex, and I have struggled with questions and doubts myself.
Decovnerted and me as well when the New Atheists began releasing their controversial and hard-hitting tomes. My father came from a conservative Lutheran background, but left that denomination to embrace a worldview that, if I had to pin it down, was probably closest to Baptist.
